Overview

WenMerch was an e-commerce website design project for an Ethereum-inspired merchandise brand connected to the WenMerge ecosystem. The website turned a crypto community concept into a functional online store — giving Ethereum supporters a place to browse and purchase apparel and accessories inspired by The Merge, validators, Leslie the Rhino and Web3 culture.

The site had to operate as both a commercial e-commerce store and a brand extension of the wider WenMerge / Leslie the Rhino identity — credible enough for purchasing, but still aligned with the niche, community-driven personality of the brand.

The brief and the challenge

Crypto audiences are highly engaged but also sceptical of weak branding, poor checkout experiences and generic merchandise stores. The website had to feel intentionally designed, visually connected to the brand, and structured around a clean shopping experience — not a quick template.

It also had to handle several layers of meaning at once: Ethereum culture, The Merge, validator language, the Leslie the Rhino mascot identity, apparel and accessory shopping, community pride and product storytelling. All without overwhelming the customer.

The approach

The WenMerch website was designed as a dark, focused, product-led storefront. A near-black background, bright orange accents and clean white typography let the colourful merchandise artwork sit at the centre of attention. The homepage led with a featured product area to immediately communicate the offer, with product cards and category pages keeping discovery fast.

Practical e-commerce content was layered in — option selection, cart and checkout flow, payment information (credit card and Google Pay), delivery and returns policy — alongside brand storytelling that connected the store back to Leslie the Rhino and the wider WenMerge story.

  • Homepage hero featured product area for fast brand and offer recognition
  • Product category navigation (T-shirts, hoodies, accessories)
  • Product cards with imagery, name, price and purchase CTA
  • Individual product pages with option selection (colour, size) and add-to-cart
  • Cart, checkout and order confirmation flow
  • Payment, delivery and returns supporting pages
  • About / brand storytelling tied to Leslie the Rhino

Make the merchandise the hero

The single most important design decision on the WenMerch site was getting out of the way of the merchandise. The colourful product artwork is the reason the brand exists; the website just needed to let it sit cleanly in a grid, link to the right product page, and not introduce friction between "I want that hoodie" and a completed order. That same product-first thinking is what we apply to commercial WordPress website and website design projects across Australia.

Outcome

The final WenMerch website gave the brand a complete online storefront for Ethereum-themed merchandise — turning a character-led identity into a practical commercial experience. The site connected the WenMerge ecosystem, the Leslie mascot, Ethereum community culture and product purchasing into one cohesive user journey, with the credibility of a real e-commerce flow and the personality of a niche community brand.
