WenMerch — Ethereum merchandise brand & character logo
A brand development and logo design project for WenMerch — a crypto-inspired merchandise label connected to the WenMerge ecosystem and Ethereum's transition to Proof of Stake. The identity centres on a rocket-powered rhino character (Leslie) inspired by The Merge, with apparel-ready illustration suitable for hoodies, T-shirts, badges and accessories.
Overview
WenMerch is positioned as a premium Ethereum apparel and accessories label connected to the broader WenMerge ecosystem. The wider WenMerge context references Leslie the Rhino — a mascot representing the strength of the community moving from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake — and that gave the brand a strong character foundation to build from: not just a symbol, but a recognisable personality that could carry multiple merchandise designs.
The brief was to create a logo and visual identity that could work across hoodies, T-shirts, badges, accessories, product mockups, online store assets and community merchandise — playful, memorable and highly wearable, while still connecting clearly to Ethereum culture.
The brief and the challenge
Crypto merchandise often falls into one of two extremes: generic token-logo gear or overly technical references that only a narrow audience understands. The WenMerch logo had to feel connected to Ethereum and The Merge, work as a standalone character mark, look strong on dark clothing, remain recognisable on a sticker or pin, carry enough personality to support merchandise collections, and avoid feeling like a standard corporate blockchain logo.
Because the design was intended for apparel, it also had to work in print — clear shapes, strong contrast and defined edges that hold up across hoodies, T-shirts, badges, accessories and promotional mockups.
The approach
The design direction used a character-led brand mark rather than a purely typographic or abstract logo. At the centre is a stylised rhino character — visually connected to Leslie — launching through space with rocket boosters and Ethereum-inspired geometric forms. That gave the brand a sense of speed, momentum and transition — a strong metaphor for Ethereum's evolution during The Merge.
The mark was tested against hoodie mockups, badge concepts and merchandise category visuals to confirm it scaled cleanly from a hoodie chest print to a pin or sticker.

When a logo becomes a character
The mark isn't just a brand identifier — it's a small piece of narrative. A rhino-powered Ethereum character charging into the next era of the network. That kind of character-led logo gives merchandise much more emotional weight than a token glyph or wordmark would have, and it gives the brand somewhere to go for future drops without needing to design a whole new identity each time. Outcome
The final WenMerch logo gave the brand a memorable and distinctive visual identity within the crypto merchandise space. Instead of relying on Ethereum symbols or generic blockchain graphics, the design introduced a recognisable character with personality, humour and movement — more ownable, more suitable for merchandise, and more collectible for the community.
